The separator is set into an excavation, and the sheet pile wall keeps the sides of the pit stable while the works are under way. This avoids wide excavation in a narrow strip between the road and the railway.
The site is served by machinery from our own fleet. The piles are driven by a CAT 336 excavator with a side grip vibro hammer, which clamps each pile from the side and drives it in by vibration. The piles are laid out along the route and installed in sequence, with the wall line checked throughout.
